Arteche supplies power voltage transformers for the photovoltaic plant of Núñez de Balboa

The Arteche Group has supplied power voltage transformers to the Núñez de Balboa photovoltaic plant. This is an Iberdrola Group project which, with a 500 MWp installed capacity, will supply clean energy to 250,000 people.

Thus, the plant - located in Extremadura, Spain- will avoid the emission of 215,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Iberdrola has relied on our UGP 420 gas-insulated Power Voltage Transformers. This equipment allows for a low voltage power supply of up to 100kVA to be obtained directly from a high voltage line. This combines the benefits of a potential transformer with the applications of a distribution transformer.

This equipment -also known as Station Service Voltage Transformer (SSVT)- has several benefits when used in renewable energy projects:

  • Reliable supply, even when the plant is not operational, as long as it is connected to a high voltage line.
  • No maintenance: thus avoiding the logistical complexity of an operation that requires transport to the plant.
  • Easy to implement and set in motion.

An Arteche team traveled to the site to fill our equipment up with gas.

In addition, we have also supplied our high voltage instrument transformers of up to 800kV, installed in over 150 countries.
