DEWA, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, operates one of the world’s largest photovoltaic plant: Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. It has a surface area of 17.8km2 and counts with over 3 million photovoltaic panels, providing 800 MW of power. This project is estimated to prevent atmospheric CO2 emissions in the amount of 1,4 million tons per year.

PV power plants faces challenges related with power quality. The Arteche capacitor banks ensure transient-free operation, high availability and easy conversion to Harmonic filter to fulfill reactive power requirements. Installing these Mechanical Switched Capacitor –MSC– is the simplest and most cost-efficient way to meet grid code requirements.

Our team of Engineers in grid integration analysis of renewable energy has contributed to the project its considerable expertise in power quality as a result of more the 30 years’ experience implementing projects in over 30 countries. They designed, commissioned and switched on the 33kV Capacitor Bank which would help to ensure grid stability, enabling the interconnection of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Markoum Solar Park with the Grid.

The Phase 3 of this PV Solar Park is part of what will be the largest single-site solar park in the world, with a planned capacity of 5,000MW by 2030. It aims to reduce over 6.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
