Indonesia installs its first mixed overhead/underground line protection system

Indonesia's electric company, PLN, has installed its first overhead-underground mixed line protection system, the Arteche CFD system that offers a highly reliable and fully passive solution.

High voltage lines that combine overhead sections with underground cable segments require careful design of protection schemes to ensure the safety of the installation, while maximizing supply KPIs such as SAIDI.
Due to the differences between faults occurring in overhead sections and those occurring in underground sections, it is important to implement a protection scheme capable of discriminating with 100% certainty where the fault is located.

Therefore, PLN and its contractor Guna Elektro have installed our CFD system between the 150 kV substations of Pasar Kemis Lama and Gajah Tunggal.
